The Data Scientist will work closely with faculty in the Department of Public Health Sciences to obtain, manage and analyze data for several health policy projects. Examples include (but are not limited to) a project on Medicaid policy and another on the quality of nursing home care. Much of this work will involve using large claims (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) and other administrative datasets. The incumbent will be responsible for managing, manipulating and summarizing these datasets, deriving new variables, and combining and reorganizing data for specific analyses. There will also be opportunities to perform statistical analyses based on the incumbent's interest and skills. The Data Scientist will be responsible for designing and implementing procedures for accomplishing these tasks that are both efficient and reproducible, and for writing corresponding documentation.
